• The Information We Collect And Store

We may collect and store the following information when running the Barcode Scanner Service:

Information You Provide. When you register for an account, we collect some Personal Information, such as your name, email address and some basic profile related information in case of sign up with social networking sites like twitter and facebook if you give us an access.

When you sync your data with cloud server, we store all of your data securely on google’s firebase cloud server. We will never share your personal data, never use your personal data for any purpose, never rent your personal data, and/or we will never sell your data to 3rd parties. When you delete all of your data and perform sync operation, all the data stored on the server will be permanently deleted.

• How we use your information

We use the information that we gather about you for the following purposes:

Personal Information. The personal data like your name, email, basic profile of the registered user is used to identify and authenticate the user. By this way we are making you sure that the data you are going to access after login is yours only. All these personal information are used to authenticate the user and uniquely identify each user only.

Your data. We collect your stored data/history when you perform sync operation or cloud storage operation (upload, download) and securely stored on google’s real time database. These are stored on database to keep your data synced across multiple devices during upload and download. We will never use your data for any purpose. So your data remains secure and that is our primary focus. For more information please read.

• Ad services

Right now we are using google’s admob advertising network. They never collect any sensitive user data.

• Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure, so all data and information transmitted to and from server is secured by SSL (HTTPS) protocol.

• Changes to our privacy policy.

Permissions to access:

• Camera

Camera permission is required to scan the barcode. Without camera permission, app will not work.

• Read Contacts

There are some QR Codes that can encode contact information like vCard or business card. So when you scan such a code, you will be prompted to add the contact information to your contacts list. In addition, Barcode Scanner can encode a contact as a QR Code and present it on-screen, so that a any one can point their phone at your screen to transfer that contact. This is why the app requests permission to write and read contacts. They are not used in any other way.

• Browser history and bookmarks

Same as contacts, you can share a bookmark with other person by encoding URL as a QR Code. It is then shown on screen for him or her to scan with their phone. That is the only reason we need bookmark permission.

• SD card

Barcode Scanner can be used to email a generated QR code or your scan history. Even you can decode Barcode or QR Code saved into your mobile phone. To do this, the barcode image / history CSV file must first be written/read to device storage, which is why the permission is needed. As a bonus, this makes this output available for retrieval from your SD card directly. It is not used for any other purpose.

• Wi-Fi settings

QR codes can encode the user name, password etc. for a Wi-Fi network so that you don’t have to type them into your phone. To do this, the application needs to be able to change Wi-Fi settings. We are showing ads within the app, so AdMob requires internet permission.

To ensure you get the official copy from this project, only download Barcode Scanner from Google Play.

This is built and signed by us, and Google Play uses these signatures to verify that the copy you get is from us. Users’ privacy and security really matters to us and we will never do job that is not legally right. For this reason, don’t obtain copies from third-party app stores other than Google Play Store.
